A park shaped by more than the sea
The Balearic government's account dates Mondragó Natural Park to 1992 and places it in Santanyí. It describes a landscape formed by centuries of farming and livestock use, with dry-stone walls, water-management structures and traces of woodland work. The cove therefore belongs to a much broader cultural and ecological setting. The beach is not an isolated natural object separated from human history on the land behind it.

Several environments in one visit
The official park account identifies protected habitats and Natura 2000 designations, while the regional tourism agency describes a network of short visitor routes. These connections allow the shoreline to be read alongside fields, vegetation and other coastal spaces. A useful visit can move between them without assuming that every part of the park is public land or that protected status makes the landscape free of contemporary management and access requirements.

Lire le littoral et son contexte
Leave room in the visit for the quieter land behind the water. The contrast between dry-stone boundaries and a bright marine opening gives Mondragó much of its depth. It challenges the idea that an attractive cove must be valued only as untouched scenery. Here, older land use and present protection belong in the same account, helping explain why the view has several different textures rather than one uniform natural character.

Suivre le récit
Begin with the park's current visitor information and choose a designated route that combines the cove with its surrounding landscape. Check the information centre's opening separately and respect boundaries around private holdings. An unhurried walk offers more than moving directly between a vehicle and the sand; keep to established paths and follow current conservation notices.
