A small opening in a steep coast
Sardinia's regional tourism authority places Cala Goloritzè on the Baunei coast near Capo di Monte Santo. Its description emphasises the break in a steep rocky shoreline and the pale pebbles of the cove. The bay is best read in relation to that larger coast. Its scale becomes clearer when the surrounding rock is allowed to remain in the view rather than being reduced to a backdrop behind intensely coloured water.

The cove begins inland
The regional authority's trekking account connects Goloritzè with the Golgo plateau and a route through the Supramonte landscape. It also identifies the limestone pinnacle overlooking the inlet. This gives the place a landward story as well as a marine one. The approach and return involve terrain and effort that a beach photograph cannot explain. Current local access arrangements should take precedence over assumptions based on the appearance of the water.

De kust en haar omgeving lezen
Read the pinnacle and the recess of the coast together. One concentrates the eye vertically, while the other opens a small space towards the sea. The contrast is enough to sustain a long look without requiring a claim that the place is secret or untouched. A cultural reading can also include the way the cove is approached, the choices made to protect it and the difference between seeing a landscape and using it.

Consult current Baunei visitor arrangements before planning a visit, including any entry system and local restrictions. Choose an approach suited to your ability and allow for the return through steep terrain. Our photographs establish the landscape; they do not demonstrate a landing permission, a current route condition or unrestricted marine access to the beach.
